Somewhere to go. Someone to talk to.
CashBack Extra gives young people more opportunities to spend time with friends, try something new and build relationships with youth workers they can trust.
The project offers early support when things are difficult at home, in school or in the community. Through activities, discussion and individual support, young people can build confidence, develop practical skills and work through challenges.
Young people help shape the activities and themes. Youth workers listen to what matters and support young people to make choices that help keep themselves and others safe.
One-to-one support
Some young people benefit from dedicated time with a trusted worker. CashBack Extra offers relationship-based support to talk through personal circumstances, relationships, peer pressure or worries about alcohol and drugs.
Support starts with listening. The team works with the young person to agree next steps and can involve families or other services where appropriate.

Activities, skills and confidence
CashBack Extra includes group activities and opportunities to try new experiences. These give young people positive ways to spend time together, build skills and strengthen relationships with youth workers.
The RISE group connects physical activity through CrossFit Tweedbank with opportunities to build confidence and work towards a Dynamic Youth Award alongside Galashiels Academy.
Ask the team about current group opportunities, trips and how to take part.
Support in the community
CashBack Extra works alongside TD1’s street-based youth work, meeting young people in the places they spend time and offering support before difficulties grow.
Young people can connect with activities, drop-ins, groups or individual support as their needs change. The team also works with schools and local partners to help young people find the right support.
